What Is The Purpose Of Group Agreements

The first group is not the only time you talk about agreements, and it is good practice to expect agreements to be broken and prepare for those discussions. In more chaotic situations (larger classes, a lot of interruption, etc.), you may need to activate the chords in one or more groups. It is best to consider yourself as a living organism that can be sensitized at any time. That`s why I insist on the group replay technique when I present chords for the first time, because it`s a great way to reset a lot of energy and put the group in a calm state where we can remind them of the chords. That is the other important agreement that should be reached. Sometimes it is really important and if not included can limit the extent to which people feel safe to share information. We find that something around « sharing learning, but protecting stories » is a way to navigate. Having a general « cone of silence » with confidentiality can be both inseeveral and unnecessary to make learning to others outside the group. You can add others, z.B. no phones during the group or no rumbling, depending on our context. Just think about coming up with a casual phrase of ideas and getting to a few with the kids in the group. « So what`s going to do our day and our team good? » Your group agreement will not be proven.

Circumstances change. Groups change. While you would always include things like confidentiality and shared responsibility, your day of meeting, place, time, study and so on will change over time. Group agreements should be reviewed at least once a year to ensure that it still works for everyone. For groups working together over a long period of time, it may be worth spending a little more time developing a longer-term group agreement. You can use a process like the one described below. Although the time of a group agreement sometimes seems a little frustrating, you gain that time later. This makes your event much more fluid.

If problems or conflicts arise during the workshop, you can stop them and refer them to the agreement established by the group at the beginning. (z.B. we all agreed to listen to others and allow them to share their ideas…). Trust the group! After all, these agreements are for them. Anything proposed will add important content to the conversation that will reveal the needs and characters of the people in the group. And don`t forget that newcomers or infirmities didn`t agree, so take the time to explain and ask for their consent to the agreement (you can always do it in one break). If you want to change it, you have a discussion with the whole group until everyone agrees. 2. Amnesty – is a companion of confidentiality and means that shared confidential information is not used against others during or after the group. If members have relationships outside the group, amnesty agreements help encourage people to share the truth without fear of blaming or judging. Other methods of developing group agreements may be appropriate for shorter workshops or meetings.

You should finish it in less than 15 minutes, and make the deal for anyone, ideally, write on a whiteboard or use paperboard and put it on the wall. Last year, we worked with a group of computer experts who, for the first time, were overwhelmed by the use of group contracts with a group. Many of them had technical skills but did not have the ability to work well in their project groups.
